Guest Room Reveal

When we bought our house, this particular bedroom only needed cosmetic changes. I knew the border had to go, and that was a nightmare. It took my sister and I way too many hours to get that stuff off. Here’s a before picture.

I was originally going to use this space as my office, but I quickly realized I needed a larger room. I had a bed frame that needed to come out of storage, and I thought this would be the perfect space for guests.

I love gray, so that’s really where I started after deciding to use the bed frame. I wanted this space to have a bit of a nautical feel to it. I love gallery walls. I thought I would use some of my beach photography to create my very own. I also purchased some of the photography and asked a couple of family members for their pictures.

Below are some close-ups of accessories. The nightstand is actually one of my favorite pieces. I wanted something narrow for that space, because there’s only three feet of space on that side of the bed. We found a heavily discounted printer cabinet at Pottery Barn that was perfect. It needed a top though, so I selected a remnant piece of granite. For $100, we created the perfect nightstand. Isn’t it pretty? This nightstand is great for storage too.

I have to be careful what I put on tables of any kind, because the cats love to knock things off of any surface. Flowers do the trick in this space, and I won’t get upset if they break a cheap vase. The flower arrangement depends on what I can find on sale at Publix or Kroger. It also depends on the season, because we transform this space into Snoopy’s Winter Retreat during the holidays.

This room was probably one of our easier projects, because we didn’t do any demolition. Painting was the worst of it for sure. I really love the way it turned out. I hope it inspires you to create a welcoming space for family and friends the next time they visit.
